The meeting is just from 7 to 9 pm. Many arrive at 6 or thereabouts so they can eat dinner before the meeting starts, but even if you can't get there until 7 you can still order and eat.
Unfortunately I can't make this one, but fortunately I'll be on a cruise trying to see what trails there are on the ocean.

Well I figured I would let those who did not join us at the AAT meeting in on what we all discussed
I think the biggest topic of the night was drinking on the trail and underage drivers on the trail. Greg confirmed that trails are considered roads in the vehicle code and all applicable laws and regulations do apply to street licensed vehicles both on street vehicle trails and green sticker trails. You can and get fined for driving drunk or for driving with out a license etc.
Greg brought the subject up by asking the groups opinion on what he should have done to 3 participating groups who were brazenly drinking while driving. The group over a bit of discussion decided off with their heads! the offending clubs should be removed from the roster.
The topic of who to call during a emergency in the Forrest was discussed and a phone number was given to area dispatch for basically 80% of the California wheeling area. I will be adding this number to the emergency contacts list.
Greg turned some time over to Jeff Mcrae who passed out some really hard to get certifications for using chain saws in the forrest
We had a presentation about the rout 66 "mother road" conservancy which for all intents and purposes could be even a bigger threat to JV and most desert wheeling areas than the military take over of JV. It was explained pretty vaguely that the mother road plan will basically help us in the way that it will keep the marine base out of JV and it will keep the solar and wind farms out of the adjoining areas as well, BUT it also gives a lot of good wheeling areas to limited use areas. so yes we would keep JV but loose most of the other parts of the desert. Granted the guy did say that there's people trying to push to get hunting and general uses of the areas effected to remain legal so there is a glimmer of hope. Another thing he mentioned is the name mother road refers directly to rout 66 and using this name has created a buzz of public support from those who are "roadies" because it is being played up as the best thing since sliced bread to them specifically because internationally there is a huge following of people who love this route 66 icon. Unfortunately most of them will only care that it saves the road and will be willing to dump anything that gets in the way of doing so. UGH
The rest of the meeting was basic and covered the little topics of general business.
